No, "we" didn't sleep.
"We" let Ronald Reagan weaken the legal protections unions enjoyed which was prudent as long as fear of the Commies kept management from over-reaching. And then when Clinton should have worked to readjust this bargain, "we" accepted his claims that it was okay if he was trash, because the economy was doing great. So Clinton kept his job because the Republicans tolerated him as long as he didn't even try to do his job.
"We" sold out for a bowl of pottage, and now it's time to enjoy the lentils.
Agreed, back to Reagan and beyond.
