Congressman Ron Paul on President Obama's "1967 Borders" Speech

"Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how Israel runs her affairs," said the congressman who, the article's author reminds us, has "proposed eliminating all foreign aid" — Ron Paul Counters Obama Policy on Israel, Middle East. In other words, let us untangle ourselves from that entangling alliance.

Ron Paul is right. Stop funding the insanity in the Middle East, and bring the troops home to protect our own borders!

First, stop the aid funding so we aren't subsidizing any of the powers in the region directly. No more billions to Israel, no more billions to Egypt and the PA, period.

Second, Israel is a nation, and like every nation has the right to viable, defensible borders. The 1967 borders don't meet that definition. To force Israel to accept those borders will result in more wars, something that Israel can hardly afford.

Third, the Palestinians are a people with rightful desires for a nation of their own. There already is a country in the Middle East with a majority Palestinian population, a country where the majority of the Palestinian people have always lived. The name of that country is Jordan. If the Palestinians are to be given a state, that state should be Jordan east of the Jordan River. Judea and Samaria are historic parts of Israel, and have been since 1967.

Mark, whatever the case, let all that be decided by the Israelis and Palestinians.

Having Uncle Sam as the final arbiter makes these peoples act like silly children. We can see it also, to a lesser extent obviously, with the Koreans and Japanese.
