The Weaponization of Barack Hussein Obama

  • Bernie DeGroat reports research that "shows that the antiwar movement in the United States demobilized as Democrats, who had been motivated to participate by anti-Republican sentiments, withdrew from antiwar protests when the Democratic Party achieved electoral success, first with Congress in 2006 and then with the presidency in 2008" — Did Obama's Election Mean the End of the Anti-War Movement?

  • Justin Raimondo's lament: "Neocons and 'progressives' -- united at last over Libya, war powers, and the Constitution" — Unholy Alliance. On the bright side: "Senators Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) have done what no Republican has done since the day Harry Truman sent US troops to Korea without congressional authorization: challenged the authority of the President to unilaterally commit the nation to war."

The anti-war movement in the US was never anti-war, it was anti-Bush. It was made up of disgruntled Democrats and libertarians who simply opposed the wars out of partisanship or disdain for Bush as a person. Once Bush was out of office, the movement collapsed. That isn't to say that there weren't principled leftists and libertarians and conservatives who oppose the wars, it is to say that the movement itself wasn't about the wars at all. The wars were merely a proxy to focus hatred against Bush. Once Obama -- The One, a Lightworker, Mr. Hope & Change -- was elected, the very reason for the anti-war movement evaporated. Bush was gone. Mission accomplished. Thus, the anti-war movement is now gone.

Indeed. All we have left in America is identity politics. Issues no longer matter.

Bush could do no wrong as far as the Nascar crowd was concerned, and Obama can do no wrong as far as the latte crowd is concerned.

Those of us who persist in favor of minor league baseball and a ten cent cup of joe have no voice.
