Famen Temple's Grand True Relic Pagoda

At the local temple posted about yesterday was a display picturing the second of the above images from China's Famen Temple, explaining Śarīra, or Buddhist relics, which are said to impart Adhiṣṭhāna, something akin to Grace.

I've seen CGI-heavy disaster movies trying to achieve the same effect by smashing well-known landmarks and random buildings, but this one puts all their effects to shame. I could sit and look at it all day.

When I saw the photo at the temple, I had to learn more. Sadly, I could nothing but the photo, with no explanation. All the photos are old, so it was either rebuilt or razed.
