I cannot think of a single redeeming value to baseball. It is neither entertaining to play or watch. It doesn't provide exercise or competition or socialization. Nor does it require any physical skill beyond what a fat drunk can perform.Tennis, skiing, running, football, golf and so forth all have at least one attribute that makes it worth pursuing, where as baseball has none.
But you mention two "redeeming value[s] to baseball," namely that "[i]t doesn't provide exercise or competition" and that it "does [not] require any physical skill beyond what a fat drunk can perform."
Baseball is the true American sport -- a perfect fusion of individual effort and team participation. A game so simple that even a "fat drunk" (guilty as charged!) can play it, while also capable of pushing the heights of physical ability. There is no game like it. And for those of us who have eyes to see and ears to hear, minor league baseball season will be starting up soon!
I hope to steele in a town with a minor league team.
