Darwinism Questioned

"Why is resistance to evolution so strong among science teachers?" asks Rod Dreher, reporting the news that "advocates for teaching evolution as the unshakable bedrock of high school biology courses have been losing on the ground to an astonishing degree" — Darwin Pushed to Margins.

The other consideration is that there is a lot of material to cover in the average high school biology class. A teacher can't present everything to the students -- it is hard enough to get them to understand basic biological mechanisms like the Krebbs Cycle and the circulatory system. If something has to go, it is easy for the metaphysics of Darwinism to be chucked in the drawer, so to speak. Particularly if bringing the topic up alienates a segments of the students and/or their parents.
