A Vicious Circle to End All Vicious Circles
Reminding us that "America's serial wars have continually deepened that great country's economic crisis," The Daily Bell's Anthony Wile asks, "How can the US cease its warring when so many people in that beleaguered country depend on conflict for their employment?" — Perpetual War for Perpetual Employment?

In many parts of the country, its difficult to pursue professional careers without a finding a position within defense because that may be the main, and in an increasing number of places such as Dayton, the only real source of good-paying jobs.
That means that, even if the position you're in isn't on the Air Force / Navy or Army base, your company or university or facility exists largely due to their presence. This has become increasingly true in the last decade due to the de-industrialization of the US, which has made large urban areas of Ohio and Michigan into post-industrial ghost towns and wastelands.
We all know about Detroit, but how about Flint, Gary Indiana, Akron, Canton, and parts of Dayton as well?
And yet, such talk is called un-American!
Precisely the problem that Ike warned us about...
I find the whole spectacle horrifying to watch.
