Music on Other Blogs

The New Anti-Jacobin posts "The Kinks — The Village Green Preservation Society (Live 1973)" with the must-read, or rather -hear, lyrics — A Conservative Musical Prelude — and The New Beginning has some American music — Tavern Music - Colonial Williamsburg and Yo-Yo Ma - Appalachian Waltz.

Great picks.

Now get this: Shortly after reading this post, "Village Green Preservation Society" came on the radio (Fordham University's )! A pint-worthy coincidence.

Now I'll have this song in my head for 2 weeks.

Looking forward to that pub crawl!

The song does stick. I found myself singing to my kids to put them asleep last night.

Thank you for the link, Mr Snyder. It is wonderfully catchy song and I particularly like that live performance when the addition of some horns give it some added "omph", although they do omit singing the last verse.

The Kinks can be ironical on occasions but this time I think they are sincere in their love of the small things about England.
