Taeugu Archdiocese's Chimsan Parish

I drive by this church once a week, always blessing myself — 천주교대구 침산성당.

Churches built in the '80s, when South Korea was just beginning to enjoy economic success, are all variations on the same theme. I actually prefer the more austere churches of the '60s and '70s, when the country was still poor. That said, there has been much improvement in church architecture in the past decade, now that South Korea is a rich country, with much more attention given to the sacred. At this rate, every church will be of basilica-quality in the next decade, as they were in the early part of the last century.
