The Nobel Prize for I.V.F.

Mark Shea calls it as he sees it — Nobel Prize for Mass Murder. I wouldn't use such language, not because I doubt the wrongness of I.V.F. technology, but because we do not know if embryos are persons.

Father Tadeusz Pacholczyk, Ph.D., has explained that "it would be incorrect to conclude that the Church teaches that zygotes (a single-cell embryo) or other early-stage embryos are persons, or that they already have immortal, rational souls," but nevertheless that "the wrongness of destroying a human embryo does not ultimately depend on when that embryo might become a person, or when he or she might receive a soul from God" — Do Embryos Have Souls? Tolle, lege.
