"All Options Are on the Table"

And have been since "mid-August 1950, just seven weeks after North Korea invaded South Korea and five years after two U.S. atomic bombs killed at least 220,000 Japanese in Hiroshima and Nagasaki," report Charles J. Hanley and Randy Hershaft — US often weighed North Korea 'nuke option'. "Even without nuclear weapons, three years of U.S. conventional bombing had devastated North Korea, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians."

The authors explain that "Korea specialists generally accept Pyongyang's stated rationale that it sought its own bomb for defensive reasons — 'as a response to the U.S. deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in South Korea.'" What's not explained is why the Koreas are even on the map for America.

"The big bad meanie Americans made them do it" has served as an alibi for all sorts of Leftist horrors over the years. Soviet Communism? The allied intervention in the Russian Civil War. Cuban Communism? United Fruit and the mafia. Cambodian Communism? Secret bombing during the Vietnam war. Funny how so few of these dire developments occur in areas of American contact, where democracy has had a chance to be established.
