Mark Shea on Multiverse

The Catholic apologist suggests "as the evidence began to mount that the universe is a one-off and will end in heat death, the new trendiness became popular: that the universe is just one of an infinitude of multiverses" — In Search of the Multiverse. Of course, "there is no (and by the nature of the case cannot be any) evidence of other universes."

Years ago, a graduate student auditing one of my undergraduate public speaking courses opened my eyes to this with a presentation he titled, "Is String Theory Theology?"

Exactly! Not falsifiable, designed entirely to create a "just so story," based on an ideological commitment to a particular narrative about creation, the nature of the universe, etc. All of the stereotypes that science and the "New Atheist" crowd claim about religion fit the desperate attempts to create some kind of naturalistic cosmology that will rescue materialism in the face of the overwhelming evidence and inferences that the universe -- including us -- is both unique and designed.

I'm into this sort of stuff too, but recently reading C S Lewis touch upon the matter puts things in a humble light. First off, Lewis was talking about this stuff 70 years ago - nothing new. He clearly was a fan of the book Flatland, which Michio Kaku later would use as a popular depiction for his own theories about Hyperspace (Hyperspace is a fun book btw).

But Lewis, who certainly uses these ideas briefly to illustrate far greater points than mere curiosities of physics, ultimately shrugs it off in a way - since this is the only "verse" we have or at least know of and can do anything with and about.

I have argued, though, that the vibrations of Super String may be akin in some ways to the Hindu / Buddhist "Om" and the Christian "Logos", since vibrations cause sound / word.

As an alternative to Quantum Theory there is a new theory that describes and explains the mysteries of physical reality. While not disrespecting the value of Quantum Mechanics as a tool to explain the role of quanta in our universe. This theory states that there is also a classical explanation for the paradoxes such as EPR and the Wave-Particle Duality. The Theory is called the Theory of Super Relativity and is located at: Super Relativity
This theory is a philosophical attempt to reconnect the physical universe to realism and deterministic concepts. It explains the mysterious.

At some point in such abstract cosmological hypotheses, we become like Sherlock Holmes, trying to deduce the existence of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The scientific community is starting to sour on string theory. You can only go so many decades without making progress before the skeptics outweigh the believers.
