Three From the Korean Church

  • Hats off to Father Francis Xavier Yu Soo-il in what I see as a delightfully ironic appointment — Korean Franciscan to head military ordinariate.

  • A reminder that Catholic teaching allows "that 'terminal treatment,' which includes artificial respiration and the resuscitation of heart and lungs may be stopped at the request of the patient" — Church can accept end of life treatment consensus.

  • An appeal "ask[ing] Catholics to be 'fools' in reverence to Cardinal Kim, Korea’s first cardinal, who referred to himself deprecatingly as a 'fool'" — Korean ‘fool’s fund’ starts collections.
