John Yoo's Father-in-Law
Jayne Lyn Stahl informs us that "the White House lawyer who opined that one has to effectively kill somebody before it's considered torture is now next of kin to the reporter who broke the story, in 1998, on network news that U.S. forces killed their defectors by using Sarin gas on a Laotian village in 1970" — The Skeleton in John Yoo's Closet. Conservatives columnists tend to come in two flavors: serious writers who are often silenced today, and those for whom the dear leader is always right.
Serious writers have written that, in running with the Sarin story, Arnett almost certainly fell for a hoax, which was highly unlikely.
I have my doubts about how serious this column is.
I'd be glad if Arnett did fall for a hoax.
