Jim Webb on "Diversity" Programs
The senator notes that they have "expanded so far beyond their original purpose that they now favor anyone who does not happen to be white," that "many programs allow recently arrived immigrants to move ahead of similarly situated whites whose families have been in the country for generations," and that "the more they have grown, the less they have actually helped African-Americans, the intended beneficiaries of affirmative action as it was originally conceived" — Webb vs. “Diversity”.

When Californians voted to end affirmative action in state institutions, the percentage of White students at the University of California fell while Asian students rose.
Which is as it should be if we want a society based on merit.

I'm not going to get in to a discussion about how the tools we use to determine "merit" are flawed, nor the problems that would exist is skilled jobs could not be filled in rural regions and poor socioeconomic neighborhoods, two areas that have benefitted from special consideration in California when it comes to "diversity."
Instead I will simply point out that the Senator said that diversity programs "now favor anyone who does not happen to be White," and I was pointing out that, at least in California when affirmative action was in place, his statement was false.
