Chosŏn Queen Chosen

"A reenactment of the queen selection ceremony from the Joseon era is performed at Changgyeong Palace in Seoul, July 4" — Royal selection. The Joseon Dynasty, properly romanized as Chosŏn, lasted from 1392 to 1897 and "was the last royal and later imperial dynasty of Korean history" as well as "the longest ruling Confucian dynasty."

From Merry England, related news — Cost of the queen: less than $1 per person a year.
