The Dear Smokers
Maybe our dear leader and North Korea's could share a smoke together — Kim Jong-il Lights Up Again. The report suggests that he "smoke[s] Marlboro cigarettes." One thing I'll say in favor of Kim and against Obama is that at least the former is brave enough to smoke in public.

And I'll add -- in favor of Kim and against Obama -- that Kim doesn't bow and grovel to other world leaders!
It's not a very Christian thought, but there is the "hope" that smoking will decrease the longevity of these tyrants, that is if one believes the "studies" suggesting that smoking is bad for the health. On the other hand smoking might just spare them from Parkinson's Disease and who knows what other illnesses.
Or perhaps both Kim and Obama are secretly Objectivists -- Ayn Rand used to say that smoking represented man's control of the elements!
"smoking represented man's control of the elements!"
Interesting, especially because smoking is typically addictive, so that a man typically looses control over the elements in question by first loosing control over himself.
Which in turn causes me to wonder why would Ayn Rand choosing smoking, since making a silver spoon, or just about any manufactured good, would better signify man's control over the elements, while smoking would be the least capable of signifying it?
I think she was just looking for a "rational"-sounding excuse for her smoking habit.
But you can almost believe it when you watch Helen Mirren's performance (smoking all the while) as Ayn Rand in the biopic film The Passion of Ayn Rand (1999).
By the way, that film doesn't really explore Rand's career or philosophy -- it unfortunately assumes the viewer already knows all about Rand -- but Mirren does give an amazing performance (as per usual), which is why I can recommend it.
However, I cannot recommend smoking for anyone.
