Year Zero

Var Hong Ashe remembers the day "the Khmer Rouge marched into Phnom Penh" — Lest we forget: 17 April 1975. "I remained for a long time traumatised by the cruelty, cowardice and inhumanity of the Khmer Rouge who walked into Phnom Penh on 17 April 1975," she writes. "It is painful even now to recall and write these memories."
