Justin Raimondo on Stephen Hawking's Warning...

... "against trying to establish contact" with extraterrestrials — The Alien Menace! "We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet," said the astrophysicist suggesting that, "advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach." Mr. Raimondo says that "the real space aliens, the real threat to our existence, isn’t coming from outer space," but rather "straight from the planet Washington, D.C."

They've already conquered us, the same way a disease conquers. What we're now witnessing are the results of the last of the exploitation.

Justin Raimondo's complaint is that those nasty D.C. aliens didn't get the proper contracts of consent signed, not that the D.C. aliens are exploiting us.

It's interesting how we make so many pronouncements about what will befall us "when" we meet the aliens. A lot of them are projections of our own fears, and our own sins.

Nobody seems to have thought that, perhaps, if we do meet with an alien sentient race, they may well have agendas of which we play no part. Our fate at that point may well be of no concern to them at all. There is a race in European legend that acts in exactly that way, interestingly enough.

In other words, neither angelic or demonic, but more like a part of nature, capricious, unpredictable and dangerous.

That's very interesting. I'd never thought of space aliens as another form of anthropomorphism. And also rather fitting.

The old myths had lovely to behold syrens and nymphs symbolizing our fallen appetites as they drew us to our murky watery deaths, now we have bug eyed monsters who take us up into sterile spacecraft.

Sexual seduction was an art, now its contraceptives and technological advancements.

Well said, gents. What does it say about our society -- "Anal probing by aliens is a common theme in popular culture"?

Re; Western,

Given that the Fae were known as tricksters and troublemakers, perhaps they are still doing what they've been doing.

It's only us that have given them a different name. A UFO may simply be a flying object, and "aliens" simply a being we encountered before and forgot.

In that case, it is not they that have forgotten themselves, but us.

Anal probing, i.e. signification of homosexuality, signifies a further level of decadence because unlike adultery, it's unnatural. Thus what is signified in folklore is that same decent into unnatural decadence.

Sometimes it's rather difficult to tell where the incorporeal end and our own imaginings begin. Especially because the incorporeal can move us materially. And do so regularly.

What we can be rather sure of is that the Fae and the like are not material rational beings. If the Fae actually existed as material rational beings, the Church would have addressed them long ago because they would be men, just like us and would be subject to the Church just as rest of us are.

UFOs/aliens are just the atomic age's updating of races of giants, jinni, daemons, elves, (and perhaps some but not necessarily all BVM apparitions), etc.

I'm not saying that the latter don’t exist (at least on a metaphysical level), jut that they are all fundamentally the same. See Jacques Vallee.
