Paul Craig Roberts Signs Off
- There was a time when the pen was mightier than the sword. That was a time when people believed in truth and regarded truth as an independent power and not as an auxiliary for government, class, race, ideological, personal, or financial interest.
Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it.
Truth is an unwelcome entity. It is disturbing. It is off limits. Those who speak it run the risk of being branded “anti-American,” “anti-semite” or “conspiracy theorist.”
Truth is an inconvenience for government and for the interest groups whose campaign contributions control government.
Truth is an inconvenience for prosecutors who want convictions, not the discovery of innocence or guilt.
Truth is inconvenient for ideologues.

That article reminded me of the fate of Deborah Medina, who suffered a "swiftboating" at the hands of Glenn Beck for being a 9/11 "truther".
Interesting limit of questions from a man who regularly tells his audience to boldly question "even the existance of God Himself". Apparently he wants us to question God, but not the official story on 9/11 and Obama's legitimacy to be President.
Wonder what the next we won't be allowed to question will be?
"[Q]uestion God, but not the official story on 9/11 and Obama's legitimacy to be President."
I knew this gut was nuts.
If you really want to save American culture, the best thing to do is take the advice of St. John Leonardi, "It is necessary to start afresh from Christ"
Start from He who is Truth, and move out from there.
Western Confucian,
Why do you say he is nuts? Do you believe in the version given by Bush and Cheney?
Nowhere in the post did I say he's nuts, much less do anything but quote him verbatim with some biographical information.
I've been reading PCR for years and rank him among the top five columnists I read. Years ago, I had an email exchange with him, when I alerted hom to the fact that he was being plagiarized.
Joe O, I see the misunderstanding. I was saying BEck was nuts, for hos idea that it is right to "question God, but not the official story on 9/11 and Obama's legitimacy to be President."
to Western Confucian,
OK, sorry about the mixup.
