Paleolibertarians on Obamacare

  • "We are confronted with the spectacle of alleged 'leftists' campaigning hard for a healthcare measure that forces everyone to buy insurance from the very same 'big corporations' we’ve heard 'progressives' rail against since the days of Theodore Roosevelt," laments Justin Raimondo — Springtime for Obama. "The only protests against the bank bailout, and the corporatist tendency in general, have been generated by the right."

  • "The roots of Obamacare are not to be found among Marx, Lenin, or the European Left, but with Bismarck, Milton Friedman, and the state-capitalist Right," explains Daniel McCarthy — Right-Wing Obamacare. "Cartelization and corporatism are the philosophy and program of our right-wing policy wonks no less than of our left-wing 'Obamunists.'"

To which I would counter that the real roots of Obamacare are to be found in the American Progressive movement, Mussolini and the corporatist fascism that has always been an unrecognized component of our political life. That fascism is now fulfilled in the Obama laws, where insurance companies become partakers of risk-free rents from Government enforced plans, and where incoming students of colleges become slaves for the profit of banks that didn't generate the debt the students are chained to.

In many ways, the central event that is the foundation for all this is the creation of the Federal Reserve System by the rich at Jekyll Island in 1910. Indeed, having heard the presentation of The Creature from Jekyll Island on CD, I marvel at the parallels between the passing of the government-monetary cartel in 1913, and the government-health cartel in 2010.
