"Forget Dawkins and Hitchens"

"Listen to Josephus and Tacitus," says Michael Coren — Historic evidence for Christ. "Easter approaches and that means, of course chocolate bunnies, cream eggs and the usual new atheists explaining why it's all nonsense," Mr. Corens begins. "The new atheists are, however, actually just like the old atheists but not as intelligent or persuasive."

Particularly disgusting and disheartening are the atheist comments following the article. Entry after entry of neo-atheist boilerplate, a parade of shibboleths. No attempt to engage with the argument at all. Give me Voltaire or Strauss any day over these self-absorbed, imminentist, poltroons

I occasionally get comments like those from out of the blue when I post on the theme. I understand when Catholic neocons stumble upon my site and dissent, but these atheists come from nowhere, and they come fast, sometimes minutes after I've posted something with the word "atheist" in the title.

They seem to be free of any social commitments, spending their time scouring the Internet for views that oppose their own.

How could they have any real social commitments? For to do so would force them to confront the fact that ideas, even atheism, have consequences.

The Resurrection of Christ is better attested historically than the mere existence of William Shakespeare.
