Remember Phoebe Prince
Elena Maria Vidal notes "the cruelty of her peers led to the destruction of the young girl's morale" — Bullying — and Rod Dreher suggests that her death "should remind us all that it is in our social nature to stand by with our hands in our pockets while the powerful exploit the weak, and even hound them to death" — The lonesome death of Phoebe Prince.

Thank you for the link. It is a heartbreaking case. The poor girl....
Kids are cruel and thoughtless, so let's punish each of them with multiple felonies that they should serve every second of.
And not a single comment I read complained of Rod Dreher's over the top reaction, or of the prosecuting attorney's over the top reaction.
I'm sorry for the girl, just as I was sorry for my own 19 year old daughter, a beautiful soul who was an outcast growing up who prayed everyday for one friend and never had even one until she went to Christendom this year.
Life is cruel, but punishing those children with felonies is not the answer, but part of the problem of out of control emotions.
Thank God your daughter found a friend. And yes, Rod Dreher was way over the top, as were the courts in Massachusetts.
